are penalty points wiped when banned?

as above im just finished a 3yr driving ban and i had 8 points befor i was banned.

are the points paused does anyone know or would they have ran there time and now il have a clean license?

Either way your not going to have a clean driving licence, when your ban is finished your going to have a 3 year endorsement put on it,

I would think that the points would be gone if the 3 years has lapsed but i could be wrong.

If there isn't a legal licence or permit in the first place then surely it follows that points can't be applied until either one exists or else the points can't be applied. Mind you, driving without a licence is an offence in it's own right but that's another story.

I am sure that a more seasoned type will clarify the working of penalty points in cases like this.

You can get penalty points on your licence for driving without a licence. Go figure!

No, it's a digital recording. The "new plastic cards" have this amazing technology whereby the government can actually record offences against your actual record, without the need to sign things in triplicate and post them to 15 different places.

I believe that the points you had before whatever it is you did that got you banned should be expired.

However, if the offence you committed has given you points as well as a ban I think those points only get applied after the ban has been served.

(I may well be wrong though but I remember reading somewhere that's how it works)

Maybe someone can confirm?

EDIT: to clarify, the points in this case aren't wiped when banned but just expire during the ban.
