Do holidays have to be taken in one block?

You are entitled to 12 days holiday while on JSA, I need to leave the country for around 5 days to help my family move house. Would I still have those 7 days left to take before the end of the calendar year?

Also, are the days spent out of the country deducted from your week's payment whenever you collect it upon your return?

    Thanks.

You may take your holidays when you like ie 5 days now then 3 then 4 just fill out the form each time.Your payment will be there for you when you return.

It's a really terrible system. When you fill out the form you just get told your application has been received, you don't get any confirmation in the post or even an email about it.

I returned to the country last Weds as I had specified. My payments are usually held in the post office until Thurs so I went in that day to collect and there was nothing - turns out you have to wait til the next week and get a double payment instead. Given that (presumably) everybody on the dole is operating on a very tight budget I don't see why they think that works. You can't just go a week with nothing because you're getting it next week. Tesco don't do credit!
