    Anyone know how long Gardai have to prosecute an unpaid speeding fine, iv been told its upto 6 months from date of offence, thanks in advance, Ben

    They normally have 6 months to apply for a summons.

    How you plead is up to you. Did you commit the offence? Were there any exculpatory or mitigating factors. If having a conviction will cause you problems, you should really get a solicitor.

    Yup, 6 months.

    The guards have 6 months to apply for the summons. It need not be issued within the 6 months and need not be served immediately after being issued. It is often served 9 or 10 months after the date of the alleged offence.

    Requested under Petty Sessions Ireland Act within 6 months, as stated can be issued and served after that, the longest I have seen was 7 years, but there is case law saying 2 years 4 months is too long.
