GoPro Timelapse file management queries

Hey folks, I'm sure a few of you out there create time-lapse videos with a GoPro or any camera for that matter.

Just wondering how you organise and keep the files.

    Here's what I do:

    Download stills
Rename due to the Gopro's horrific file naming ability so they're in time order even when sorted by name
Open as image sequence with Quicktime 7
Save the file as a self contained movie
Open with Quicktime x and export to 720 or 1080 depending.

    Done.

Was wondering, what files do you think are worth keeping?
Once I have the final video the only thing I will generally want to do in the future is slow it down or speed it up.

Do you think I need to keep the still images and self contained movie?

Storage is so cheap now you'd be mad not to keep the stills.

    Very true.

However in the Pro I have the 4 bays full with 1TB drives (Raided, 2TB useable) and a separate SSD for startup. I'm shooting 20+ GB every two weeks or so just for time-lapse so I chew threw space fairly quickly.
It's cheap but its not that cheap for a hobby!

    That's a lot of gigs!

Mind you 20gb every two weeks is only 500gb a year so you could easily back up just the stills onto one external drive just to keep.

Ye I see where your coming from.

Except I guess I don't value the stills that much.

I'd ideally love a way to keep the video in a format that is compressed (so it'd not a massive 10GB self contained file) but still able to become any sort of video, be it an iPhone sized simple time lapse, or a HD video that has the ability to slow and speed up without loss in quality.

I don't know if a 1080p export from quicktime x would be enough to have these options?
