    Hi,

I'm looking to find out what documents you need to present at the social welfare office when applying for JSA when under 25 and living at home. I've been searching online but cannot find a definitive list. From what I have read, I will need the following:

    -PPS Number
    -Proof of identity (passport)
    -Evidence of address (bank statement)
-Parents wage slip (recent I presume)
    -Evidence of job applications

Is there anything other documents or information I need to provide?

EDIT: Probably a silly question but is it ok to print out the application form in black and white and hand that in? I live in the country and don't drive so I don't want my trip into the office to be a waste of time.

Bank statements for the last 6 months

Usually when you called to social welfare for the first time you will be given an appointment to come back at another date and they give you a list of things they want you to bring back

Also what have you been doing before now. If working bring p45. If finished college bring letter stating you are finished college. Hope this helps.

Also if parents paying rent bring proof of that. Useful for benefit and privilege

If parents are paying a mortgage bring evidence of this and if they are paying private health insurance for you then proof of this also. Its best to bring 3 x recent payslips for parental income.
The printed application form will be fine even if its in black and white. Form UP1 in your case (I am presuming this is your first claim application).

You will have to fill out some more forms on the spot also.... UP1b which is the form for means testing and also a profiling form but they are fine.. As maryk`123 says if you have finished college bring a letter stating finish date. In relation to bank statements, if you have online banking then print them out and these should suffice.

Thanks for the advise guys. Yeah I'm just finished college myself.

I have a sister (21) who is in here final year of college. Will I need to provide proof that she is in education?

No you shouldnt have to provide this information as it should not reflect on your claim.

You'll need two wage slips from your parents and a six month bank statement from them.

You dont need your parents bank statement just a bank statement for yourself.

When I applied I was made do this. They were adamant on it.

Why not? your parents are means tested

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Parents earnings are means tested not capital.

That's very interesting. I was told the opposite. I went in with a four month statement and they gave me a week to come back with a six months one. hmmmm
