    Hey.

Im looking at second hand cars and trying to strike a balance between when a new model was last released and how cheap it is.

For example, Hyundai released a load of new models, the i's about 4 years ago, but they would all still be well over 6k or 7k to buy second hand.

As far as I can see the Opel Astra hatchback has the oldest new model release. The new shape opel astra was released about '04. I could get a '04 '05 for about 2.5k.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

Oldest was probably the just replaced Volvo S40.

I also think you need to reaccess your criteria for buying a car - you will no doubt wind up in something better.

Just seen in that wiki article the Astra H comes with a 5.7l V8 in brazil .

Audi A3 was launched in 2003 and was only replaced with a new model earlier this year. Skoda Octavia was launched in 2004 and only replaced this year.

Probably better off getting one of the last old models as opposed to one of the first new models which would have a lot of launch problems not ironed out until later on.

Cheers MuppetCheck/baz26. I will have a look around but tbh I just wanted around a 1.4 petrol hatchback. I only drive at the weekend, and this type just seemed to be the most sensible to me. I find saloons a bit difficult to manage, and its not like Im lugging around a family in it.
