iWork apps using 100% of CPU (Mavericks)

    Have a relatively new 27" i7 iMac with 24GB of RAM

    I installed mavericks yesterday & then got the update to the iWork's packages. I opened them briefly to the initial splash screen & then closed them, meaning to come back to them today.

    Have restarted the iMac since but can't get them to open. I get the icon to the dock, but it just hangs & when I check activity monitor, they're hogging 100% of CPU (each).

    Have tried uninstalling them & restarting but to no avail. Any suggestions ?

    Delete them and re-install from the App Store.

    Done that (also turned it off & back on again)

    Been onto apple support for an hour & they recommended bringing it to an apple genius bar :(

    Sorry, missed that bit.

    A few suggestions:

    Did you upgrade to Mavericks? Did you make any changes to your previous install that might be a factor? Removed/added fonts, etc?

    Try trashing the preference files. com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist, et al in your user’s Library/Preferences folder.

    Shot in the dark, but it could be iCloud related. Try temporarily disabling Documents & Data in iCloud preferences.

    Also try repairing permissions using Disk Utility.

    I tried the iCloud thing after your previous good advice, unfortunately it didn't work this time.

    Tried repairing permissions & clearing p-ram.

    Mavericks is on there as I couldn't get the updates otherwise.

    I'll try the plists thing later.
