I don't know which firmware I need to download to flash my s3 with using Odin.

Can anyone help me out with a link for an unbranded release?

I'm run into a few problems and the phone is stuck in the boot loop, so I'm running out of options.

If I can get pointed the correct firmware to flash then hopefully this might clear the problem.

    Thanks.

Have you tried wiping the cache - power off the phone, then press and hold volume up, home and power button

    Stock Irish firmware - http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9300&pcode=TSI

Thanks for the link. Its stuck on the Samsung symbol at boot up. It won't turn off, unless I take battery out.

I can only put it into download mode, and flash. But flashing hasn't worked so far mate.

TSI is the unbranded Irish firmware - all the others will have the extra bloatware from the networks.

Flashed it with TSI, but still stuck on the samsung boot ****ing loop. I think it needs to be sent away. I'm in Thailand though, so it's not going to be sent anywhere here or the S8 will be released before it gets back to me.

Any other suggestion/ideas on how to fix this?

So when you tried installing a new firmware it got stuck on boot logo?

As pizzahead said, you need to wipe the phone's memory aka factory reset as it's confusing the old and the new firmware.

You can't get into recovery at all? Just into download mode?

You could try flash a custom recovery via Odin and then boot to it and wipe cache partition and wipe data/factory reset.
Not got an S3, so can't recommend a good ClockworkMod or TWERP recovery for your device, maybe someone else can.

Ok, I got it into Download mode and flash it with Siyah-s3-v1.6.8 (don't ask me why)

Anyways, I got the phone back to working state, but still the wifi issue is there. I can't connect it to wifi as the tab just greys out when I click it. It also just says "turning on" and then clicks off again.

I got 3G working on it, but I don't know how long it's going to last either.

Here are the specs from the about device:

    Version: 4.1.1

    Baseband: I9300XXDLID

    kernal: 3.0.31-368423
    se.infra@SEP-78#1
    SMP PREEMPT

    Build: JRO03C. I9300XXDLJ4

I don't have access to CWM now, so I don't know where to go from here? Any suggestions?

Obviously there may be some issue with the incorrect kernel with the ROM? I've no idea tbh guys.

Would appreciate if ye could get me out of this mess.

I've had that happen to me on my s4, just yesterday in fact! First time I installed the 4.3 update, no wifi. Tried to go back to a nandroid backup, same issue.

In the end, I reflashed the stock rom. It seemed to take an inordinate amount of time to get off the samsung logo.

The one for your phone should be http://www.hotfile.com/dl/239951519/c4dc3bf/I9300XXEMC2_I9300TSIEMA1_TSI.zip.html

I found the link from sammobile.com

Actually, here's a good walkthrough from xda developers.

If you've no data to rescue on the phone try to tick the repartition box in Odin when flashing the phone.

Might help it might also cause your phone to blow up etc I'm not at fault blah blah.

I tried this and followed the guide as you suggested. It flashed etc, but the problem is still there?

    Can't turn on wifi

It's still showing up a kernel in "about device"

Is this something that just cant be fixed? It's over 2 weeks now since the problem occured and although 3G is fine, it's kinda pointless not having wifi capability all of a sudden.

Would I need to flash a different kernel or something?

Did you install the wifi fix modem from xda developers? All I can suggest is to perhaps install a completely different rom, perhaps cyanogenmod?

I think you have to install one that matches your baseband

That link to xda is for the s4.

Yeah I don't know how to find a rom that matches my baseband?

    That could be the problem?

Anyone tell me what room I should use that will match my baseband?

    The baseband version is:

    I9300XXEMC2

Any help would be great to be honest. Can't find a fix for this.

TSI is Tesco Ireland, not unbranded
