Stock shafts

Don't think the vid has much to do with shafts, watch a slo mo iron shot that is a bit thin off centre, the head swivels like nobodys business, and closes, with a stiff iron shaft.

Kuchars shot is more off the toe there, swivels open post impact.

Probably still hit the fairway and went a mile. with a draw.

40 seconds in on that video, classic thin wood shot that leaves a ball divot in the ground and goes about 30 yards, haven't hit one in a while but oh my God when you do it's gutting.

The vid was embedded in a newsletter that was sent to me from a popular club builder, extolling the virtues of being properly fit. Looking at the slowmo of the R1 is actually unbelievable how un stable the head is, obviously caused by the shaft twisting on impact, never realised this happens, obviously for dramatic intent the swinger must be using a shaft that is way to soft for them, trying to drum up a bit of business I suppose but still an eye opener.

got same newsletter but not convinced its relationship to shafts. I posted it previously from Andrew rice blog and he was talking about off centre hits.

A cynical observer would see this as opprtunism by said newsletter producers

It's a great video anyway because that camera is unbelievable, 1800 FPS.

I'd say though, the flexing after the shot makes no odds, as the impact position the ball is only on the clubface for such small amount of time. Even Kuchars had a lot of movement after the ball, but he probably hit a good shot. That's just my opinion, maybe wrong. The bad wood shot there was doomed from the start as it was thin.

Look at this video, a stiff iron shaft hitting imapct a bit thin, the head turns closed big time. That's with an iron shaft.

Awesome video, see what you mean alright with the iron, i would never of thought the club would distort like that after impact, even the first swings the face opens a lit bit after impact, but there is a difference i would say the iron shot went straight but when you look at the R1 the face angle changes immediately as soon as it impacts the ball it's the same with the wood immediately after, there is no way that ball is going where its intended, love the slowmo's though, would be a great tool for fitting and for the range!:)

Well obviously they are trying to sell their service as you said. The clubs twist because of horrible strikes. Look at Kuchar...you think he's using a stock shaft?! He only hit it slightly above centre and the clubhead twisted.
