Backups that are compatible with different Vu+ images

    Hi All

    just a got a Vu+ Solo

    am undecided between images so am going to have a play around between mostly the vix and Black Hole images

    they both have their own backup and restore functions (only tried BH so far) - ie channel lists / mount points / installed packages / addons etc

    I want to be able to have a backup of as many of those things as possible

    BUT regardless of images i use (Vix or BH) I want the backups to be compatible so that they could be restored within / on top of with either image - i know channel lists can be switched using the dreambox edit stuff but I want as many of the settings to be interchangeable between Vix /BH if possible - might have to draw a line at addons for example due to technical issues maybe.

    so if i take a settings backup on Black Hole I want to be able to restore it on Black Hole or Vix - is it possible - any experiences ?

    Meoboot is your best bet for trying out other images, its a plugin on Blackhole. It lets you install other images from usb while keeping blackhole on flash, you need to format your usb to ext4. There is also an image downloader plugin in Blackhole that saves you the hassle of ftp.

    have a look at openatv and openpli as well. BH is massive and will be the one you go back to. I would like to do what you plan but as yet dont know how to.

    i have got a couple of green screen crashes on BH 2.06 so far
    they happened both when i had finished scanning 28.2 - zappeda few channels - it crashed - same when tuning and scanning thor 0.8W - immediately after scan zapped a few channels and green screen - but after reboots box seemed stable again - but only time will tell - really what im after is that if i have regular crashes i want to have some settings to restore on a final stable image of choice

    Happened to me too a few weeks ago but everything ok.

    Might be an idea to load channel lists via the green button?
