Interference on 10936

Hi all, came across a curious problem at a friends house. They have lost the signal on 10936 V 23000. This is the STV HD and other ITV HDs TP. Looking at the tuning indicator it was pulsing roughly every second and couldn't get a lock. All other freqs are working fine and this TP used to work. There is no DECT or WiFi in the house.
Could it be a neighbours WiFi or DECT jamming the signal. It is a terraced house. I thought it was usually the higher freqs that suffered from interference. Any ideas anyone?

LNB Local oscillator is 9.75 GHz for satellite between 10.70-11.70 GHz (and 10.60 GHz for above 11.7)

10936 - 9750 = an IF at 1186 MHz - I believe that is in a band for Aircraft Radar

Could that be a possibility? better screened cables/outlets should solve satellite IF interference

Of course something else might be causing direct interference to the actual satellite frequency (not the IF) or an issue with receiver.

DECT (1880-1900MHz) phones can affect the LNB IF for 12480 V which currently has the SKy encrypted (as distinct to FTA) Channel 4,c4+1,More4,E4,E4+1 for Ireland along with the FTA music channels Kiss, Kerrang ,The Box, Smash hits,
    DECT wouldn't affect 10936

Cheers for that, Antenna. They are nowhere near an airport. I checked on my phone and it picked up 3 WiFi networks. My best guess is that one of these is the culprit. The dish was professionally installed and it seems to be good coax etc.
They can survive without it but STV was handy for alternate movies some nights.
(And of course the anorak in me doesn't like not knowing.) :D

Wifi is well away from satellite IF & nowhere near Ku band.

Are there any comms. masts nearby? There was another thread a while back where a large mast carrying a lot of microwave link gear seemed to be causing problems.

None that I'm aware of. The nearest mobile mast would be ~800 metres away and would be side-on to the dish. I think I'll just have to put it down to the magic of RF:rolleyes:

You should try a different receiver just to prove that it's not a receiver problem before replacing cables etc.
