I came out this morning to find the focus's (2000) passenger side floor had been soaked during the night.. I checked and the pollen filter was soaked aswell. Turns out plastic tray that covers the pollen filter is broke. The rain is pouring into the car.. I had a good look tonight and it's actually the little rubber strip that's peeled off and letting the rain into the cabin

Where would I get these parts new and would I need some special type of glue to fix it?

    picture attached......

It's a windshield cowl. Those are known issue for mk1 Focuses.
A breaker should have one for a fiver if they have a similar car.

Firstly get a new pollen filter from any motor factors. Then I would clean the end of the windscreen and cowl. Then use some black weather proof mastic / silicone for use with the gun thing. Put down a fine bead of the mastic / silicone and tape each side. Then use a weight or some description to provide even pressure until it sets.

I have the same car and have done this before it works. The only danger here is if enough water got in it may have damaged the blower motor or heater resistor. If they stop working at low speeds then that's the problem. There are cheap enough parts if need replacing anyway. Good luck with it.

You will have to re seal the pollen filter housing with the likes of tiger seal and replace the filter.

The water that leaks into the cabin finds it's way into a bcu that controls the cars electrics. The water will eventually corrode the electrical components in this box which will eventually cause a whole load of electrical malfunctions.

Your best bet is to re seal the housing asap to avoid this.

i think i'll get it done tomorrow. I have black plastic bags covering the gaps atm. It looks odd but i'm glad I did it, the rain is pissing down here now.. I had some job drying the carpets aswell :o:o
