    hi guys.

i have a mention in the supreme court tomorrow for a case next month and upon meeting my solicitor to today. she said that i would need a barrister to address the court and the solicitor she had in mind has not got back to her. and that she will not be able to attend the court tomorrow.

So i rang the law library to find some more infomation with regards to a barrister, and there advise was , that i go to court tomorrow and try find a barrister there, but il need a solicitor to speak with them but my propblem is my solicitor cant come to court tomorrow.

upon reading other forums , i read about a person who could not get representation for his case and was able to use a duty solicitor on the day that fourm was uk based .

so i was wondering does ireland have the same? would i be able to look for a duty solicitor tomorrow.?

And if its not the case, would i be allowed to ask the the judge to put the case back until i find proper representation.

if not both, what would or what should i do .

many thanks for your help on this matter.

    william

Are you sure you did not misunderstand your solicitor. The post does not sound correct. You have a solicitor on record, if he can not attend he should arrange a town agent (there are a number of such solicitors in Dublin) or another solicitor to attend. If your instructed barrister can not attend then your solicitor can instruct any number of barristers to attend to the matter, this can even be done before 10am tomorrow.

I can not understand why a solicitor on record is telling the client to arrange his own representation.

The main problem you will face in getting someone else tomorrow, is you have a solicitor on record, it's their job to arrange for someone to be there.
