    http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/no-record-of-un-letter-on-hinkley-point-nuclear-station-247044.html

The UN wrote to the Department of the Environment last week asking if the Irish public had been properly consulted about the construction of a new nuclear power plant at Hinkly Point in Britain, 240km off the Irish coast. The UN committee asked for "copies of notifications received by the Government from Britain about the planned construction, and a copy of the response." The Department say they have no record of receiving the letter and thus have no response to make. An Taisce and Greenpeace are launching separate legal challenges on various different grounds.

There has been a complete failure to hold a consultation with the Irish people regarding the environmental impact assessment (EIA) and the potential transboundary impacts of the development, totally disregarding the UN Convention on such nuclear developments.

We put up wind turbines for them; they give us some of the nuclear juice from this plant.

    Win win.

The missing letter isn't the biggest issue here, they were aware of the proposed development for years yet there has been no public consultation despite it being required under a UN convention.

If I wanted to develop a wind farm I'd have to have a public consultation as part of planning ffs (and rightly so!).

Hinkley Point is only one of many plants. It's down the list on SHTF possibilities.
