Folks. Hoping for some advice here.

My partner brought a UK registered company (who also operate in Ireland) to the District Court back in February of this year and a judgement against the company was awarded to him. It came to €600 but he has still not received the money. The company did not represent themselves in court either.

He has contacted the solicitor who represented him a number of times over the last 7 months but keeps getting told that it can take time for the money to come through.

In the last month he has rang the solicitor and emailed a number of times but has got no response.

Is it normal for a judgement to take this long to be enforced. We have heard nothing since February that says that the company are appealing the judgement so I was just looking for some advice on what to do next.

    Thanks

Your solicitor should be answering these questions. There are steps that can be taken with regard to enforcing a judgment but he may take the view those are inappropriate at this stage. Sometimes patience is in order though because the other avenues can be extreme given it's a small judgment debt.

Call into your solicitor with your list of questions. They ought to be answering this stuff.

How long is a piece of string, if the company does not want to pay then more steps have to be taken to enforce judgment, that all costs more money, which you will get back from them.

Ask your solicitor what steps have been taken, what is the next option and what are the costs of doing the next step.
