Quality after market car mats

    Hi Guys,

Having just bought an 08 mondeo titanium x, I now want to get a decent set of mats. I have een having a look online and there seems to be a large number of sites offering exact fit mats in different carpet weights ranging from 300g to 1700g. I would be more inclined to go for the higher end mat. Has anyone got a recommendation for a site to get exact fit mats?

I had thought that these guys http://www.carmats.co.uk seemed to have a good choice of mat / trim available as i want it to fit in to the interior as much as possible. Ideally I would like the mats to have the black carpet with black trim and white stitching detail as the interior has the same detail.

    Cheers

Have you priced them from a dealer?

No i hadn't I just figured genuine would cost a fortune. I also thought that the genuine focus mats weren't up to much either tbh. They wore out fairly quick in my focus anyway.

Yes I find the main dealer route for mats is best, an aftermarket set will either be typically a rubbish fit or cost near the cost for originals.

Ford mats are only usually around the 40 quid region, and probably in stock.

They'll often have more than one standard of mats - I'd start there.

Cool I'll give them a try so.

Has anyone bought aftermarket? are you happy with quality?

    Thanks

The set that I am looking at are £52. Plus I can get them trimmed the way I want. But if fit is not perfect I would not be a happy bunny.

I have just sold a Volvo s80 with factory fit mats and they were perfect. rubber backed and all studded so no sliding... I don't have any studs in the Mondeo for factory fit. Can these be bought separately?

You can get the clips alright on Ebay or from main dealer but these are only good if the holes are already in the carpet and on the mats in the correct position, if Mondeo doesn't have them you won't be able to retrofit them.

If I remember correctly the MkII Focus has the clips in the floor for the mats, at least the one I used to have had them.

Sorry Bazz its not a focus...

From memory, the mats don't clip to the floor on that model Mondeo.

There are plastic bits that hook in to holes on a raised area under the driver's seat, and these clip in to the mats to hold them in place.

http://www.ford-accessories.ie/productgrouplisting.htm?marketId=IE&languageId=en&modelId=25&categoryId=19&articleNameId=568 - seem to be for a different fixing system, but pricing on the older version should be around the same (€46 inc. VAT - worth asking for a discount though)

They'll come with the mats. With the Mondeos there's a normal set and a slightly plusher type for a few quid more that are definitely worth it. Ordered a set of the better ones for my father a while back as the cheaper ones wore out very quickly and they were like new after a hoover.

Great Thanks, Now where is a good ford dealer on the south side that will probably have them in stock. Id like to put my hands to them or do you have a PN that I could check stock with them?

    Thanks

When I got them they came from a UK ford dealer. I'll try and see can I find some information on them and the cost. If I do I will post it up later on.

Tallaght Ford. 014000044. Raddick in parts is the man to speak to.

They'll probably have standard mats in stock, but the higher quality ones are most likely an order. Might take until next week for them to come in.

Thanks a million. the "mats" that were supplied with the car are shockingly bad... there more like cheap front door mats:(
