So just say that dunnes lad an advertisement up for seasonal staff on the window of there shop. What do you do next. Would you go home dress up in a suit and bring in a cv or would you just go in there and then and talk to the manager and do you need a cover letter with a cv?

Never had to apply for a job yet as I was always given the opportunity to work in family businesses.

Large places like Dunnes will have an application form in all probability. I would seize the moment, go in and ask to speak to a Manager, say you are interested in the position and ask how you apply.

Define ordinary clothes? Big difference between smart casual and eg a tracksuit and trainers.

    Normally if in doubt overdress.
In this case polished shoes, trousers, shirt will be fine. Clean shaven and no tattoos/earrings on display.
Try to speak to hr/manager as forms get lost/ignored etc.
Sounding interested, motivated and reliable will get you far in a meeting.

Dunnes don't have application forms. Drop a cv and cover letter into customer care, chances are you won't get to see any HR manager, your cv will go in the pile and you'll have the same chance as everyone else. Pushing to see the HR manager could annoy them if they're busy or it could impress them that you're keen. It's all a gamble. Have your cv and cover letter tailored to the job anyway and follow up if you don't hear anything.

Some Dunnes do have application forms.

Just go to the Customer Service, wearing whatever you are wearing now but with a confident positive attitude, and ask them what the story is.
