Office 2010 Pro vs Windows 8...

If anyone can help with the issue below I would be very grateful as it's driving me nuts and the Microsoft support system is Byzantine in its complexity...

A few months back I bought a new laptop and a new, unused, boxed Office 2010 Professional package on eBay.

The package installed with no problem and I can access all the programmes e.g. Word. Excel etc.

However when I save files to the Document Library I can't retrieve them as I'm asked for my Microsoft Product Code to enable Microsoft Out of Box to be installed. I duly enter the code (at least 6 times now) having checked it for accuracy and it is rejected with a message saying it isn't a Microsoft Office 2010 code. Well it was when I loaded the package!

Has anyone else had this problem? A solution would be welcomed. Many thanks.

Thanks for the attempt to help Torqay.

Unfortunately it doesn't take me any further on.

Having followed the instructions, when I open the Help button under File in Word, it doesn't tell me that I need to activate the programme so I assume that I did activate it at an earlier stage. I have a vague recollection of doing this some months back but haven't needed to use Office until now - to set up a small business.

Even selecting Help options on Activation, it still doesn't help as no activation code is offered, so making it impossible activate by phone using their normal system. I have the Product Key but that isn't what's requested. I assume that no activation code is offered because I have already completed activation in the past..?

The telephone help offered by Microsoft is very poor compared with other companies. You don't get to speak with a real person, only a pre-recorded set of instructions which take you around in a loop.

    Any other thoughts welcomed. :-)

iirc, what you may have is an activation serial in your hand, which lets you activate/register the purchase/software but which then generates the actual product key code. Check your email archive from when you first activated.
