2 Parking Tickets

I got a parking ticket last week for parking without a permit, I was only there for less than an hour. Tried to pay the ticket online and it wasn't recognized. Was told I would have to wait a few days first. Now I got the letter for the ticket and it says I had 2 tickets! Both 1 minute apart, the notice number is 1 digit higher than the other. On the car when I returned I had 1 ticket (The second one issued). The issued by section is not filled in so I don't have a name of the person who issued it. Tried ringing the council and got no answer.

    Surely they cannot do this?

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

What council was it from?and have you attempted to contact them yet?

It was in Carlow, I tried ringing but all I've got was that the lady who deals with that isn't here at the moment and try again later :(

Keep trying them. You need to appeal the ticket with them.

Worst case, you'll have to physically go down to the Council. Most of'em are terrible to answer the phones.

Either that or appeal it by registered letter.

Obviously, one ticket fair enough, if you were in the wrong. 2 of'em is obviously a mistake. Explain the situation that you couldn't pay it etc.

I've had similar issues before, where the machine didn't work. If there's a phone number on the machine, I call that and make them aware, plus tell them, where I'm parked and what my reg is. Never got a ticket in that case.

Athlone Town Council however sticks zero contact details on the machine. I've got a ticket before where the machine wasn't working and had to walk into the Town hall and make them aware of it and appeal it. I had taken a picture with my phone of the non-working machine at the time though. Just to be safe, so they had no excuse.

I got it sorted thanks for all the advice. It was an error on their behalf and one of them was cancelled. Luckily I didn't bend over like CJhaughey would :)

    Thanks again :)
