2 sky boxes into a 3rd TV

    Hi all,

MY current setup is a sky+HD box downstairs, 2nd multiroom box upstairs. I now have a 3rd TV in another room and I planning on using an "SPC4 -4 way super plus combiner" with a sky link. This box allows me to input the RF-2 outputs from upto 4 boxes (only will use 2) with a single output to sky link. This will then allow me to switch between skyboxes on my 3rd TV depending on which one the kids are not watching. I guess I am checking if any one has the same or a better "box" that does the same.

    Thanks

No the Spc4 is the way to go, reliable and works perfectly however you will need to program the ports for the remotes to work. I use SPC4-F which use F connectors instead of coax connectors much more reliable in my opinion.

2 different types of receiver: does the remote from 1 work with the other?

I've never actually set up 2 Sky boxes like this, so can't wholeheartedly offer a recommendation, but if I was setting this up for myself & there were no conflicts between remotes, I would just try something like this 2 way combiner/splitter with power pass. I'm not aware of any advantage the SPC4 would offer if the remote signal filtering isn't needed.

You simply program the remote to tell it which box you want to control....

    i.e Port 1 = Std sky box.
port 2 = hd box etc or any other combination and can then tune in both boxes to the one tv e.g on ch1 and ch2.

I know you can assign a remote to each port of the SPC4 but if there is no conflict between the remote signals i.e. the remote from 1 box can't control the other, why would you need to bother with the SPC4?

As if you are using 2 of the same box there will be a confilict....hence why the spc4 is needed to send the relevant signal to the correct box.

I just wondered when the OP said "multiroom box" did they mean 1 of these & if the remote is the same as for their main Sky+ HD box.

Thanks for the response, looks like I am on teh right track, just realised that getting the co-ax from the downstairs box up and across the house to the 3rd TV will require the HULK. But plan on doing the job this week.

Are there no aerial cables installed in the walls, that you could "hijack" for the Sky RF?
