New Build Opinions/Advice

I am in the process of a new build and think I have every component chosen.
I just want to share this with your wealth of knowledge just that all components are compatible with each other. I will be mainly using it for gaming, multimedia and a bit of video editing. I know some of you may think that the storage is a bit of an overkill but that's what I'm looking for.
I look forward to hear your opinions/advice. Thank you in advance:)

The specs are as follows:

Case: Thermaltake Level 10 GT LCS

Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Extreme Intel x79 2011

Ram: Kingston Technology XMP Beast Series 64GB 2133MHz DDR3 CL11 DIMM

GPU: Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan 6GB GDDR5 (I may want to add another one on at a later stage. Haven't decided on to keep it/them fan or water cooled)

CPU: INTEL Core i7 (3970X) 3.5GHz Extreme Edition Processor 15MB L3 Cache LGA201 (It will be water cooled)

PSU: EVGA SuperNova 1500W 80 Plus Gold

Drive: Asus DVD-RW Drive

Hard drives: 1x Kingston Technology HyperX 3K 2.5-inch 480GB SSD
4x Western Digital Black 3.5-inch 4TB HDD

Card Reader: All in one card reader

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate


Two things I have yet to decide on:
Firstly I may want to add a soundcard, which I have chosen already (Asus ROG Xonar Phoebus 7.1 PCI Express Soundcard)
Secondly I may want to add a game capture card which I have not chosen yet

I'm sure a few people here could suggest how you could be a bit more thrifty or get more out of that budget.

That's a lot of money to be spending on a pc and total overkill for gaming.

You could get identical or better performance spending half of that money.

Why 64gb of ram? Games are barely using over 4gb at the moment. 8 is more than enough. The "bit" of video editing might require a little more but not 64gb unless you're a professional doing a lot of high res memory intensive work. Also the speed of the ram will do jack **** for gaming.

Titan's aren't worth the money unless you plan on doing some multi 1440p monitor setup. A single 780gtx would be more than enough for 1080p.

A 4930k would be a faster processor once overclocked than that 3970x and costs about half the price. Regardless either one is total overkill for gaming. Most games don't use over 4 cores effectively never mind 12. If you want to go overboard anyway go for the 4930k. Otherwise a 4770k or even the cheaper 4670k would be more than enough.

€130 - €180 will get you a high end socket 1150 board. €200 for a 2011. No need to spend crazy amounts on a mainboard for 0 gain.

Power supply again is overkill unless you plan on running triple titans with an overclocked 4930k. Even then it's a bit much.

Why caviar blacks for storage. If it's just a storage drive does it have to be fast? Do you really need 16tb of storage? How much porn do you need?

Why W7 ultimate?

You seem to be just picking the most expensive parts for the sake of it. You can get far better value and identical performance with smarter shopping.

Gtx 780 ti is coming soon would be a much smarter investment than titan.

Overall have to agree with bloodbath. This computer will be out of this world. As in not for this world... Like buying a Ferrari and never going over 100 mph. Nice to look at but pointless.

All that serious extra cost for no real gain. And should you decide to sell it down the line it would be a serious pain. That rhymes and you know it does so it must be true.

That said It's your call and should you push ahead at least take into consideration other options than the titan. Gtx 780ti or perhaps the New AMD r9 290x.

The multi monitor set up is in the plans but later on down the road, again I am thinking long term. I would consider the 780GTX though as I will probably only be going 1080p.

Can you recommend a motherboard with the same spec's or better for less money?

No not doing it for the sake of it, it's just that the spec's of these products are appealing to me. To each their own if you will.

The GTX 780 TI is something I would take into consideration.

Thanks guys for all the feedback, exactly what I wanted to hear. The GTX780 is something I'v really taken on board (which I may end up going for). I'd be interested to hear from any of you with options for same spec motherboard (or better) for less money. The same goes for the CPU but saying that, I don't know if I am going to overclock.

Something like this is still overkill but significantly cheaper with higher performance in most areas. The WD blacks aren't worth the extra cost over the reds imo.

With all the money saved you can buy a load of nice peripherals and still spend less money. I included some suggestions. Remove anything you don't need.

Bloodbath's build is a much better idea. If you really want to spend the extra money, you could build a server as well to house a bunch of drives. Makes future expansion very easy.

You could also invest in a watercooling loop for your system, but given that you're not sure if you're overclocking (You'd better, or I'll hunt you down, because it makes either build completely asinine) it might be a bit much.

I'd change Bloodbath's 750GB SSD to a 1TB model though; it's actually slightly better value.

Also Homeplugs would be your best bet for your network if you don't have direct wired access to the router.

If you end up getting this change the cables to standard sata. I linked the e-sata cables by mistake.
