Hiya. The boot won't stay up on my Grand Scenic, so it appears the hydraulic boot struts are gone. Is there any way of fixing these, or do I just have to go and get new ones?
    thanks

There is no fixing them. Bin them and fit new ones.

Agreed. I got a set of struts before from a crowd called SGS in UK and they were very good and reasonably priced. www.sgs-engineering.com/

ok, thanks guys. You'd never even guess how heavy the boot is until these fe*kin things go! Unbelievable weight

Once the weather gets cold they seem to lose some lift as well.

Think they approx. 15 euro each in Micks Garage

€50 for the 2 from micks - bit pricey, will source elsewhere

I think €50 is a good price for 2. Probably not worth going down the 2nd hand route and getting from a breakers yard, may not have much life left in them.

You can get them for €28 on ebay including postage.
I know - they're probably inferior quality, but I don't intend on hanging on to the car long enough to be proven the ebay ones have a shorter life span

Second SGS in the UK. Excellent quality and good price.
Will need a helper if installing. I used my head when installing, some weight in it!! Not advisable!!

Very easy to change, Micks Garage has a tutorial vid. Do get someone to lift the tailgate while you are working on it, don't be tempted to jam it open with a broom!
