New Car - Suggestions

    Hi all

I am looking to change my car soon as my current Peugeot 206 is causing me suspension issues. I do about 400 miles per week, lots of it on poorly surfaced roads. I am looking to upgrade to a saloon type car, passat, mondeo, A4, 506 etc. Any suggestions as to which of these (or other similar type cars) is best able to withstand the heavy impact of doing mileage on these types of roads? Budget is around 12k but in particular I just want to know which cars are particularly strong in this area.

    Thanks
    Stonemanic

I would say an Avensis is probably the best car in the class for covering high mileage on bad road surfaces without giving suspension trouble.

Thanks for the reply George. Not a huge fan of Toyota's TBH but appreciate the response.

you could get a nice bmw E39 with leather, cruise control and climate control for pocket change... virtually zero depreciation, no loan interest, motor tax E950. Its one thing if you want to change, but surely if its just the suspension is going in the peugeot, it couldnt cost too much to replace, surely a lot cheaper than buying a newer car?

The Peugeot is petrol also, so want to change to diesel to save on that aspect. Also want to change to Saloon as just sturdier on the road for that amount of mileage.

Mostly done on regional roads, hilly with lots of little bumps and dips

A citroen c5 with hydraulic suspension (ie if buying the newer model it has to be the 2.0hdi as the 1.6 has normal suspension) there is no better car imo for covering miles on bumpy irish bog roads.

I put over 80k comfortable miles on mine in the 4 years I had it, doing the same type of driving as you.

I travel all over the back roads, full of much, shít and potholes. Think my mondeo is the only car that has made that bearable for me :P
Makes even the roughest roads smooth
