I'm doing the fortune telling at the local schools Halloween party and I'm stuck on ideas to keep the kids interested and entertained, the ages are from 4 to 11. It's this Friday so any ideas on props, what to say etc would be greatly appreciated. Why did I say I'd do it arghhhhhhhhhhhhh

    Thanks

You need a shawl, an old style dress and a curtained off corner. A head scarf tied gypsy stile too. If you can find a goldfish bowl, turn it upside down and wrap the part in the bottom in cloth. You could get one of those battery powered night light to slip inside it.

Be careful what you say, you don't know what background a child has. Stick to things like "you will have a great time on the school tour" or " You will make a new friend this year" and so on.

Thanks for that, I have the area sorted and clothes, it's more what to say that I'm struggling with. Here goes googling again!

You could get 3 cups, put a coin under one, a ring under the other and a piece of clay under the other (on plates maybe!)

Get them to pick a cup

If they pick the coin, they will be rich
The ring, they will get married to someone blonde/dark/tall... Insert details as you wish!
The clay, they will become a farmer!

That's what our "fortune teller" does and the kids can't get enough of it!

Or get 4 cards. Ace of Heart, Diamonds, Clubs and Spades.

Hearts means they'll fall in love.
    Diamonds they'll be rich.
    Clubs they'll be lucky.
Spades they'll be a hard worker.

You could even combine the 2 "readings"!
