You could get an astra van 1.7cdti or 1.3cdti (1.3 is a bit underpowered but both will easily do 50mpg)

Possibly a golf van 1.9tdi but you may struggle to get a mk5 within budget.

Corolla van 1.4d4d very good van and great mpg.

Astra Sportvan, mileage is above average but says it has a full service history. Might be worth a look:

Lady owner eh? I suppose technically, that's true.............:D

Wonder where it sat, not moving much, since August. Should have a full history up to the 200k + area though.

Not sure the forced ventilation (in an Astra Van ) makes up for not having an armrest.

Get a Golf, you should get an early mark 5 in budget.

We've liked the diesel astra's we had, but have been bitterly disappointed with the dealers ability to resolve even minor issues. Toyota's dealers seemed much better. Maybe thats a sweeping generalisation, but its been our experience.

I wouldn't call the astra troublesome and i have had one and my dad has had megane astra corolla vans. I currently have a focus 1.6tdci. And although the astra may not be all out as reliable as the corolla there good cars and would certainly beat a focus van anyday. And remember corolla vans are few and far between and you will pay for them.
