Nissan Primera 2004 replacing front headlight myself?

Hi. I am looking to replace the front right headlight on my 2004 Nissan Primera. I was in a crash resulting in the damage. Some of my friends have a high interest and knowledge with cars. They said it should be easy enough to fit the light myself. I have priced one roughly for €40 in a scrap yard.

The indicator light is obviously not working but was for a while after the accident. Water may have damaged it. Also the indicator on the rear right is flashing red and not the correct light for indicating. On top of these problems when my mid or high lights are switched on I loose a lot of power accelerating. When im charging lanes on the motorway and indicating right the car begins to loose power and jerk back and forward.

What I want to know is

    1. Is the whole light fitting easy to fit considering I have never touched anything on a car before?

    2. Is it possible that even after fitting it correctly I may still have issues with the car and rear light?

    3. Is a scrap yard the best place to buy? I live in Dublin 12 so if someone could recommend a good scrap yard that would be great

Below is a picture of the damage

From a look at npoc.co.uk it seems pretty straightforward, you can register there and download the instructions free.

Thanks biko so really good information there appreciate it. Yeah there is a possibility it will not fit because of the body damage. Sure I will buy the light to get things started.

I take it when you go to a scrap yard you have to remove the part yourself?

Sometimes they will have it removed for you if you ring and ask for a part.
Sometimes they'll just point towards the car and let you work away yourself.
Depends on the scrappie, some have better customer service than others :D

I finally got the whole light fitting replaced and my indicator is back working. Only problem is when I indicate right or have my low or high lights on a night my car is loosing power when I accelerate. Would this be down to water damage on the wiring? Its really annoying and I am afraid it might do damage to my engine in the long run :(
