Text & FB messages threads suddenly separating

For some reason, every so often a text from a friend will not appear in an existing thread but instead start a new one. I can see any rhyme nor reason to this and it's very annoying. I'm on WP8 with a Lumia 925. Anyone else got this?

FWIW, this was caused by unlinking hotmail profiles.
