Renewing driving licence, waiting time?

My driving licence expired at end of sept. I filled out the renewal form etc., and posted off in sept., I have not heard anything since. I tried calling their office but unable to get through. Does anyone know if there is a backlog or timeframe with them issuing these.

I know the other option is to go in there in person but if anyone has any recent experience that would be great.

    Thanks

There was a recent thread in motors saying there was up to a 3 month delay on issuing of Licenses since it was taken off the local County council offices. So you may be waiting a while longer

Was waiting 7 weeks for mine. Sent mid August and only got it last week.
I emailed them as I sent it by post and hadn't heard-they got straight back to me advising they had major delays so I wouldn't worry too much.

email them with your name, address and date of birth and just ask them to confirm receipt of your application. They usually respond within 24 hours.

Expect an 8 week turn around at present, the new motor tax system hasnt helped with delays to the processing of all thing Motor Tax Office related, even taxing of cars by post has delays attached to it now over the SORN.

One week for me with Waterford County Council. Apparently the waiting time varies enormously from region to region, with some months delay in some areas. In my case, my new licence was issued by the central office as, I understand, are all. So it would seem that the delays are caused by the local authorities rather than by the issuing office?

You will be 7-8 weeks waiting in Dublin.
