Getting some extra spam on a domain with a couple of users on it. I know in outlook I can simply block sender but Im thinking it wont stop the issue as as I presume this will only block the email address that the email got bounced off.

The problem Im having is that some is sending out spam to various emails address with our email address as the return path. So i receive the mailer daemon as a genuine email address has flagged it as spam and bounced it. IF I simply block sender I presume it will only block the genuine email sender and and not the ip below?

    Return-path: <our email address>
    Received: from win3.hostgator.in ([119.18.57.14]:53551 helo="our email address"

Ah, blowback spam. One of these fine days, mail admins will learn to stop doubling the amount of spam in the world by bouncing obvious spam back to an address from which it obviously didn't originate.

    One of these days...

Perhaps look at where your email is hosted and filtered. Check if they provide "bounce verification" protection or not.

If only a few users and not sensitive, then perhaps consider filtering via gmail or similar.

If not, then move your mail to another provider who can protect you.

We were saying this in about 2004. What year is it now?
