Swapping seats in my van.

    Hi all,

Looking for help with a problem I'm having. I drive an 01 kangoo and the seat is in bits, the padding is gone on one side and is giving me serious pain in my leg and back.
I have looked at a few scrap ones and they all seem to have the same problem. I bought two scrap seats out of an Opel Combi (stupidly) thought it was the same van.

So after all the rabble. Does anybody know of a welder in Kildare who would make up a thing that I could put the seats from the combo into the kangoo.

    Thanks

Because they are pretty terrible to be honest. The passenger one is a folding seat so it doesn't slide.
I would like to change that.

Surely the easiest thing is to get the seat reupholstered and new foam put in?

I got a quote of over 100 for that. As I said though I want to change them anyway.

So back to the point, does anybody know of a welder in Kildare who could do this?

Not as a straight swap. The kangoo drivers seat legs are tubular steel and one side is higher than the other (the inner leg mounts on the transmission tunnel). The only option would be if you could mount the scenic base and back on to the bottom frame and legs of the kangoo. But at that stage you may as well use any seat as the donor as it will be as much of a job .

I would have thought car seat mounts were fairly standard. I got a seat out of the car version of my van and it fit perfectly. Although that's within the same manufacturer.

Any mounting plates you make will raise the seat and could be just as uncomfortable.

As was said the inner side of the seat is mounted higher than the other. I found a guy who reckons he can fix it up for me.

Next question, what can I do about the airbag and seatbelt connection.
