What would be the expected points implication on the new two year course?
I would have thought that with it being extended a further year and a confirm doubling of fees (and increasing student contribution) that PAC points would decrease this year.

On the other hand, the use of the word "masters" albeit "professional" could attract more applications.

Most colleges seem to be consistent with just NUIM seeming significantly higher so will it be the case that Maynooth points will drop?

NUIM has always had the highest points so I'm not sure it if will go down. It has the best reputation among principals and allows for commuting.

I heard that the colleges were only taking on half the numbers in the first year of the two year course. A few of the colleges then loaded up on students this year to make up for the loss.

I think concurrent teaching degrees will be the big thing ffrom now on. 6k a year for the dip, madness...

No it's definitely still the same numbers being taken ... Why diminish their profit when there's no need ?

Ahh but they are usually only in the sciences or some business I think ?

Does NUIM not take on less students then say UCD etc hence the higher points?
As far as reputation goes I wouldn't expect a principal to hire you based on were you studied your teaching degree.

I think it's a joke to extend the degree anyway doubling the expense to students in terms of fees and opportunity cost of an extra year in the times that are in it, working for nothing(no grants). To put things in perspective when the trainee nursing placement was going to be unpaid there was uproar from the INMO and it was reversed but for student teachers the TUI and ASTI stay quiet with there "I'm all right Jack" type attitude.

The order was from above the colleges for the first year of it.
