    Rang the sfp section,

started buying march 9th, hoping to sell sat 26th oct.
Like last yr i rang up. . But your man said im not suppose to tell you. .

Then said you had 3 bought in mar and should be ok, what a load of crap. Totally no clue. . .

    On mar 31 i held 9. .

My issue is, what time during the month do they take a snapshot of you holding? According to last year the lady said it varies.

Does anyone have a phone number they ring for this type of thing.

Dept of agri . . . Totally annoying. . Would sooner deal with sky or eircom.

    Nbf

post up the amount of hectares you farm on your SFP and when you bought your animals and what ages are they and its easy enough to work out when your retention period is up.

Thats not the problem. . I have that done. .

The issue arises if they look at my holding on the below dates. .

    Mar 10th and oct 30th. . .
Above then id have not met it.

    Mar 18th and oct 18th . .
On the above then i would have me it. .

Why cant they just say your holding is looked at the 20th of every month. .

We all know why, . . Hoping we will miss it.

I dont get this looking at it one day in the months. The animal movement (AIM) will tell them if you have had the required stocking rate for 7 months irrespective of what day of the month, maybe the AIM system doesnt update the dept of Ag only once a month and this is the problem. If you are sure you were over the minimum stocking rate needed in your herd for the 7 consecutive months, then they will have to pay up as you met the terms and conditions

Would be easier if they said 210 days or so

same as Bob on this one, they dont pick a day of the month. its annual average they use. The problem must relate to the system not updating correctly

I had a similar issue and couldn't really get a clear answer from Portlaoise.
My Teagasc advisor got this answer from the Dept not sure if it was as a response to my query or just a general answer.
Hope it offers some clarification although what exactly is meant by manual calculation is not clear.

“Has to be 8 profile runs, each done on the 3rd weekend of the month. Last profile run done Mid August. Next profile (Sept) 20th October. Manual calculation will have to be done if cattle sold before 8th run”

I have absolutely no qualms about saying this, if the system is denying you information or making like awkward, call in to your local TD. I have been dicked around by times and when the TD raises the magic telephone information flows freely. Parish Pump politics is alive and well because Irelands systems are broken and don't always work for the "customer".

    Hi Bob,

I'm in the same situation as NBF. I bought in early April but date on AIM says moved into herd 16/04/13. I have 14 bullocks approx 18 mths old and 14HA land.

How do I know from AIM when I have met the 7 months requirements for these? Or do I just do it 7 months from 16/04/13 so ready to sell 16/11/2013.

    Thanks.
