    Hi,

    Where are you based?
Im in Kerry and am currently very disappointed with the service. Am paying for up to 10MB broadband and phone service with Permanet and can experience speeds of 0.3MB on a regular basis. I am delighted if I get 1.5MB. Despite constant complaints to their tech support I am not getting any satisfaction. The best offer was to downgrade to their up to 6MB package for a fiver less per month (€45). They also offered to send a technician and if he did not find a problem at my end I would have to pay for the call out.
I have been in contact with Comreg as well.

Thats my current experience with Permanet. Sorry for ranting.

I am in Wexford . My service would be coming from Forth Mountain .
Are your speeds like that all time or just peek at times ?.
Also would you run a pingtest.net to Milton Keynes between 8 and 9 in the evening and post results . Thanks

I actually got that installed. I think i'm going to cancel subscription, connection is very bad.
That is a speedtest done 1 minute ago:

Its quite reliable but jitter is unacceptable. Also they seems to have some problem with routing within backbone, looks like every packet gets different route to destination.
Pandybelly, can you shed some light about your fight on getting better service? What did comreg say?

Tromple are you in Cork as well .Is it network congestion ? Or are the speeds like that 24/7

If you're in Cork can you get Nova? I've been with them for a few weeks now and so far they have been great. 20Mb with a ping between 9-30 at peak times. I can final game in the evening when I get home from work.

I'd avoid Permanet, know a few lads with them in Kerry and their speeds stutter to a crawl during peak times. Try other fixed wireless providers, most of them operate off the same mountain so you should have a few options.

    Hi,

    Comreg info:
"ComReg can become involved in the resolution of individual cases only when the customer has first lodged a complaint with the operator in question.
To lodge a formal complaint I advise you to proceed as outlined below:

    · Contact Permanet via email to permacare@permanet.ie
    · State that you have been advised by ComReg to lodge a formal complaint
    · Request a complaint reference number
    · Give the details of your complaint

If Permanet does not respond to your complaint within 10 working days you can contact ComReg with the complaint reference number and we will review your complaint and refer the matter to permanent if appropriate. We will keep track of the progress of your complaint and when the service provider lets us know that the issue is resolved we will examine the resolution and check to see that all your issues have been dealt with.
    "

I have been with Permanet side they began operations in Kerry and have been happy with them until lately. I must contact them and follow the advice from Comreg.

    Speedtest at 00:23 http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3066304969
THats positively rapid performance next to what I am getting at peak times. I downloaded OSX Mavericks a few nights ago >5GB and I had to leave the computer downloading for about 9 hours. Pretty sad.
Have Permanet a presence on Boards.ie?

Are you connected to the Slive Mish mast? Just driving by, you'll see loads of receivers from Permanet on people's roofs. They are totally over subsrcibed in Kerry.

    Hi,

I have made a formal complaint to Permanet as per Comregs recommendation. I can't put up with this service much longer. Problem is, I have no alternatives other then Eircom and where I live I would be lucky to have voice calls.
Example of tonights lightning fast speeds.

    Hi,
I have exactly same results in the evening. I spoke to tech support and they have same excuse as always, speeds due to congestion etc etc. i tried to point them that they oversubscribed the network and thats their fault. They also mentioned that they are soon to fix the issue for all users, they currently do infrastructure upgrade etc. Does anyone else have some more details on this?

I received a reply tonight from tech support that my complaint was sent to the wrong email so I have submitted it again.

My parents and brother have them in Kerry. My parents are on 2 meg and they get that for the most part, but they also get regular outages for anything up to an hour at a time. My brother is paying for 6 meg but lucky to get 1 meg at times. He's never gotten the full 6. Both are on the Knockanore mast.

I'm currently with Iveragh broadband, speeds never drop below 3mbs but the average is 5mbs. Pings never goes above 40 either, they are upgrading their network in a few weeks so the speeds will be faster and more stable. Should ask your parents/bro to get onto them, they have loads of masts around Kerry

According to their coverage map they're only south of Tralee unfortunately. My parents and brother are near Listowel and Ballybunion.

It's worth emailing them anyway, they are very helpful and they are constantly expanding so they might be out in the direction in the near future.

    Hi,

I am on there 10 meg business package . I am noticing that speed is fluctuating in the evenings . Between 1 and 2 meg .

I though getting a business package would help with contention!

Support feel there are no issue except normal usage in the evening

Just wondering are they just over subscribed and don't have the backhaul or bandwidth to deal with subscriber number? Or are they throttling speed for everyone to deal with this instead of investing in bandwidth or backhaul ?

Seriously considering jumping to vodafone 4G mobile broadband

Any experiences at the moment from anyone else ?

    Thank you
