Are you doing transition year in school? If so it would make it easier for you to apply for work experience, as you would be covered by your schools insurance policy. Big issue that places have when they have people helping out voluntarily is that they are liable if anything happens to you.

Prepare a good cover letter and post / email / ring the HR departments of all sections in the airport, good luck, hope you get something.

He would be insured by the school for general work in the airport, however the dept of education does not cover airside work.

If you are really in aviation, you should give Simtech a go. They are based in the Dublin Airport Logistics Park which is on St. Margret's Road on the west side of the airport perimeter. It's a pilot training facility with 4 simulators and a mock up of a CityJet aircraft (I think it's an RJ type). Simtech runs 3 of those simulators, B737 (MCC Intro and Commercial Flying), ATR 72 and Avro RJ-100 (I think). The fourth one is an A320 which is run by Aer Lingus.

I did my work experience with them for a week two years ago and I was put into the position of an assistant maintanence engineer which would go around with your mentor to fix faulty parts on the sims and learn electronics. Did get to fly on the B737 Generic and the Avro. B737 Generic sim is fixed motion and the other three are hydraulic, 3-axis motioned sims.

Definitely worth your time to look into that and I have done 4 work experiences so far and none of them beats Simtech.
