How successfully can commonage type land be reclaimed? I'm thinking of trying to buy some near me. If you do it once and do it right could it be productive or am I just dreaming?

Commonage, or mountain/bog type land? You would want to find out first if you'd be allowed touch it.

Drained a bit of bottomy ground and reseeded it a few years ago went from rushes and sprat to lovely rich green pasture, looks the part but not worth a hat of shi#e to milk stock of, bad land has no power in it as the old saying goes "putty and paint never made a sinner a saint" if it was me save your money for some good land

It's currently commonage. My hope was that I could buy out a number of people's shares, and have it legally divided up, then have a viable size holding and reclaim it. As far as I know it's not boggy (most of it). There are also fir bushes growing on, which I've never seen grow on a bog.

My father knows most of the holders (a number of whom aren't farmers) so I might just ask them. I'm just unsure whether the whole idea would be a big money pit
