Today, I received the great news that I am employed! This is my first job, though only part-time, which will be every weekend. I am delighted as I know how hard it is to find work these days.(although this was only the 2nd interview i've had, so im a bit skeptical about that assumption!)

However, I am also a student receiving a grant from SUSI as my parents have very low incomes. Would getting the part-time job potentially reduce my grant next year ?? Also would I be entitled to any tax-back from income tax considering I am a student?

You are allowed to earn €3809 during holiday times, summer, easter, xmas etc without being penalised. Anything above this figure will be added to your parents' income when calculating the earnings for 2013 next year. When you are a month out of work you can ask the tax office for a p50 form in order to get some tax back.

Are you allowed to earn this money before the course example are holiday earnings from 5th or 6th year summer excluded from the income threshold?
