Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi I have just bought a Sony DVD player and need a slimmer cable than a scart to scart as the space for the cable is very narrow so I purchased a scart to 3 phono cable but it does not work even thought it is fitted correctly. Have I done something wrong can anyone help with this please?

A bit more info would be needed here.

    Make/Model of DVD Player.
    Make/Model of the TV.
Does this new SCART lead have a switch on it marked IN/OUT.
On which device did you connect the 3 phono plugs - TV or DVD Player ?
Did you try changing the TV "channel" to AV ?

Aside from all this what you've bought sounds like a composite cable - 1 Yellow - 1 Red - 1 White. Yellow being composite Video and the RED/WHITE being the Audio L/R channels. Composite is the absolute dredges in terms of video quality.

It does not have in/out as I did not require it. The TV is Phillip LCD 3 phono connected to TV the DVD is a new sony DVD player scart end connected to this also I did try to connect AV to ext 1 & ext 2 but neither worked. The player does work when I connect scart to scart but the lead is too bulky for the space. Is it possible the scart to 3 phono although new is at fault?

Are the connectors on the TV Yellow Red & White or Red Green & Blue ? The latter are for component video the former for composite + audio.

The make & model of the TV and DVD Player would be really useful here. Not really possible to advise you based on just "Philips LCD" and "Sony DVD player". All models have different specs and connectors so the solution may be different.

Don't all new Sony DVD players have a HDMI output? If your tv has an input available, you could get a flat HDMI cable: would certainly be preferable to the phono connections.
