They've got new presenters Andy Clarke and Mathieu Norry in at the weekend.

Have they changed their head of music? - (as far as I know it is Gavin Ward).
Their playlist has seemed to completely changed; much more stuff from the 00s, 80s and 90s. For example, in the last hour they've played The Farm, Stereophonics (who they're giving away tickets to) and Brandy. I feel this is a step in the right direction for 98 after their unfortunate jnlr's recently. They have some of the best presenters in the city - Ray Foley, JP and Dermot and Dave are hilarious! I always felt that the music policy was quite close to that of SPIN's - 98fm seemed to play a lot of top 40 music, without the likes of the more dance and r & b oriented songs that would be played by SPIN (and are more suited to SPIN). Which I think is fine, but I love this introduction of older material to the station. Also, I love their concentration on Irish music too - I've heard The Coronas, Ryan Sheridan and Two Door Cinema Club in the last couple of hours.

Is this going to be a permanent thing? and what do you guys think of it?

Definitely a new sound about the station alright, it's always on in the local shop.

I've heard the The Coronas, Ryan Sheridan and Two Door Cinema Club every hour for the last few years on every radio station... It's a shame that the Irish Policy means they wind up playing the same stuff on repeat.

I think the music is usually a bit different at the weekend regardless, they know its a slightly different demographic, older that will most likely flick stations so they stick stuff thats more catchy on.
