Audi A4 - Failed NCT, brake fluid lines + brakes not tested + out by >1 year

    Hi Guys

Few quick questions if anyone can help me out.

NCT was up in Sept 12 - Well overdue now
(But has gone through 2 tests since, plus a few months I was in Australia).

Latest test failed on break fluid lines.
Just wondering if anyone can recommend someone in Dublin to do these cheap enough - Dub 15 best or between CC and Dub 15.

It also failed on breaking - They couldn't test because something wasn't removed (Don't have test to hand) - I presume this is the cover of the lock nuts, is it? - Next time, should I just remove them and leave the lock nut somewhere obvious in the car?

Final questions - Seen as it is out by over a year, do they back date it etc or what happens if/when I get it passed? Will I get it for the year or have to take it in again etc?

    Cheers in advance guys.

    P.s - Its a 02 Audi A4 TDI 1.9

you don't have to leave the lock nut key out. They don't lay a spanner on your car, it's a visual inspection only. Take off any wheel covers though

Cheers for the info guys, much appreciated.

Helps a lot and will make it easier.

Can anyone recommend a place to get the break fluid lines done cheap around D15 or between D15 and town ?

Can't think of anything that has to be removed for the brake test, most likely finding faulty brake lines would invalidate any brake test results. They'll repeat the brake test during the retest.

What _exactly_ do each of the failures on your report say?

The wheel cap not being removed means that there is a cover over the wheel nuts that has to be removed. The brake lines need to be replaced, once this is done they will test the brakes performance which is the last of the listed items.

They would have done the brake test before noticing the lines though.
Mine passed the braking test but then failed on corroded brake line

i think they put it down as not done as the brakes have to be retested if a visual like lines is spotted

Mine showed the brake test results and it passed but they had to retest when i got the lines fixed.
Brake lines and hoses seem to be a fairly common fail

thats a strange one so, i was only guessing really, thought it said retest rather than fail or not done if the car failed on a brake visual and brake test had to be redone.

Ive seen some that have failed and lets just say they were far from bad. I suppose its on the testers discretion
