Disability Allowance waiting time for a response

I'm hoping maybe someone could give me some info on the disability process. I applied for DA on the 25th July 2013 and received a text message on the 10th of August 2013 stating that my claim has been received and being reviewed. However I haven't heard anything since that text and was wondering is it normal not to hear anything? If my claim was rejected would I of received a letter by now? I'm hoping "no news is good news" :) ...Look forward to your responses :)

Thank you for sharing that discussion with me, I see one of the people is in a similar situation as myself. They received the txt message as I did but unfortunately they received a letter shortly after to say they had been declined. So I'm going to use this as a positive note as I haven't received a decline letter even two months after the text message.

It seems to be such a subjective decision... So annoying that people may loose out because of a subjective opinion

It should be decided by independent 2 consultants. You are either fit for work or not. I don't get all this jumping through hoops with Welfare. Its a disgraceful way to treat the sick and disabled. The consultants would not be long dealing the the scam artists. If the decision is on medical grounds then how would some pen pusher make the decision?

There are lots of schemes available in the Ireland for disability claims, but you need to brief me the particulars of your disability

Was that an appeal or first claim?... Strange as they've definitely gone through July already ... I think they're on august or maybe September even now?

Ok Thanks. It was an appeal although they have sent it off to revised decision section? So that could be the reason i guess.

You need to make sure that every letter has the magic words "unfit for work for at least 12months". Include a diary of how your disability affects you. For example at 9am my wife had to put on my shoes and socks, noon- i had to lie down due to the pain and missed lunch with a friend. Ask for an oral review or a review in person. Do not be afraid to bombard them with updates regardless of what the letter says. Be proactive and don't wait for letters from them. Good luck with it. Everyone seems to be turned down lately. I was turned down 4 times til i requested a review in person
