I need a new Cava

Firstly, we don't go out and if we take a drink, it's every 3/4 weeks. So if we buy a bottle, it's a Cava. This one below is from Aldi and costs us a tenner.

    253D086F01B54994B9F57AECA0A6B771-0000324795-0003404151-00640L-AA23CDE56C824C8DBE25AC52CEDCC88F.jpg

It did the job for ages, then we had a special occasion and got a different one.

Now we can't get the taste off the newer one out of our palates, the first one just doesn't do it for us any more. Thing is, the one we like is from M&S, and they're gone in the town now, and I aint driving to Liffey Valley for a bottle. If I bought a case to stock up, that would just disappear in about 10 days.

Can someone recommend a special Cava that's readily available in say Tesco. O Briens doesn't have a great selection of Cava's either.

I see that O’Briens have Freixenet Cordon Negro, that one is Ok:

They may have it on Tesco as well, I remember them having Freixenet last time I checked, but it may be a different variety.

Freixenet is probably the biggest Cava producer in the world and they have dozens of “labels”. The Cordon Negro is mainly produced for export, and I’d say it’s mid-range as far as quality goes; it’s probably better than most of the supermarkets own-brand cavas. Pricier as well, though.

Not Cava, but Tesco Finest Alsace Riesling cremant is very good for c.11euro (always on special offer, don't buy at full price of c.18euro). I can't find it online to link here but saw it yesterday in my local tesco.

I'll investigate both at the weekend and let you know how they taste in comparison.

I tried both suggested, they didn't make the grade. Popped into M&S in Newbridge earlier, and that second cava was priced at €13.99. That was €7 off the price on the shelf. Only bought the one bottle today, but am going back for a few cases tomorrow. If it's still priced the same tomorrow, I'll stick it up in bargain alerts.
