Calculating time to paint house interior

My friend's mother needs a lot of her house interior painted. It's a standard 3 bed semi and needs ceiling, walls and skirting painted in kitchen, hall/stairs/landing, bathroom and main bedroom. Also, 5 interior doors. A few other jobs like varnishing a couple of window sills and laying laminate flooring in the bedroom are included.

I'd like to give her a relatively accurate time of how long this would take but not really sure how to calculate this, considering I will probably have to clear and prep rooms prior to painting as well. Another issue is that there is vinyl wallpaper in the hall, stairs and landing which will require approx 3 coats.

Can anyone help with this? I have in the past painted all of the interior of my own home but was under no time constraints at all.

Thanks for the reply North West.

Were the work surfaces new that had to be painted?

    Hi kkelly
No all the walls were painted before but I would think a few years back.It really took the 3 coats to bring out a good crisp bright colour. It was well worth it as I have gotten 2 jobs from referral of the home owner. I must say the whole lot came out mighty worth the 3 coats. I put in 8 long days but glad of the outcome.

I'm going to be slowed down as there will be moving furniture etc and prep work in all the rooms. Nothing has been pre-prepared for me. Also, I'm going to have to wipe down all the kitchen with sugar soap. Walls are very dirty from cooking and staining from smoking in the house.

    Hi
You will be slowed down alright moving furniture etc. I had to clean down the sitting room walls but that was all. Good luck with the work.

How did you go about painting the gloss finish surfaces NW? Did you sand, undercoat and gloss finish?

    Hi kkelly
Yes i rubbed down all areas to be glossed with fine sandpaper. Then u/coated and glossed. It really makes a big difference to the final finish and also lasts and looks good for a long time as opposed to just glossing.
