Hi, Wondering if anyone can help,
I have an 04 nissan almera and last week my key fob unlock button stopped unlocking the car (it worked occassionally). The car lock button on the fob works fine. I thought maybe the unlock button is faulty so i switch the battery to an old fob i had that a flat battery and had died a couple of years ago. The problem now is i tried to reprogramme the old fob and it wont work remotely any more. So i tried reprogramme the first fob that worked occassionally, now i have 2 key fob that are dead.

I used this sequence i found on net to reprogramme.
    get into car
keep doors unlocked (i tried it with doors locked as well)
key in ignition and turn to start position 6 times in ten seconds.
let in off position (also tried it with key out) and after 2 seconds the warning lights will flash twice.
Press and hold unlock button and at same time press lock button three times
Release unlock button. I get this far fine but
warning lights will flash once if successful -
unfortunately they dont flash and key still doesnt work

turn on ignition and warning lights will flash twice - remove key and check operation

If any body has any advice it would be greatly appreciate
    thanks
    marc

You appear to have the procedure right.

I'd advise fitting the immobilizer chip to a new key.

I'd imagine your remote is not sending out any signal and therefore unable to be programmed.

Thanks for the reply, Not sure what an immobilizer chip is but when I open the key there is a green circuit board which I can take out and a battery under it. These are the only 2 things in it so I assume that must be it, If it is could I put it into the spare key will I think died of a used battery.

Thanks for the clip, I'm going to wait to get a new battery first, just to discount that and look at your advice

i have similar problem to marcc, the lock button is gone on my fob. my key only works in ignition as well? wont open the doors.

im gonna buy a new fob and put my circuit board in as per the video.

if i buy a second one, do i buy one second hand with a circuit board inside and re programme it to my car?

any ideas what i can do about my ignition key?!!

cheers, sorry for the slight thread hijack marcc!

Is this also for an Almera?

copeyhagen, I tried swapping PCB and everything and I eventually ended up with a fob that didn't open any doors and was pretty useless and only worked in the ignition. I got on to the small battery company in London and they sent me a new battery. I put in a new battery and I followed the procedure above and it worked a treat. Before you buy anything get a new battery €6 + delivery and try the reprogramming procedure above

    its an 03 almera yeah.

battery is fine, just the fob is all worn. have 2 blank fobs on the way to me, will put my chipset into one, and try program the other.. wonder why the key only works on ignition though

This thread saved me a huge deal of grief and money today.

Thanks for posting the nissan reprogramming steps.

I was a bit nervous to try it as it deletes the existing code your car is programmed too but after about 5 attempts. It worked.

My alarm was activated and would not stop going off when I open the dor.

    So steps I followed where:

Open door with Key (central locking), all doors unlocked.
Get in car, put key in ignition, leave in off position.
Wait for alarm to stop beeping
    Then as above:
turn to ON position(full electric on, not the engine starting) 6 times in ten seconds. (so ON, OFF, ON, OFF, etc)
let in off position (also tried it with key out) and after 2 seconds the warning lights will flash twice.
Press and hold unlock button and at same time press lock button three times
    Release unlock button.

I tried this three times, then the third time it worked. I think it's just a timing thing with unlock/lock buttons.

warning lights will flash once if successful -

Then I took my key out to end the programming sequence, and the car beeped and my alarm now works again. The mechanic tried to charge me 50euro for this over the phone!!!

    Thank you very much!

I'm going nuts! I tried this a load of times, with both keys, and new batteries.
Got as far as the warning lights flashing twice. Then I pulled out the key, held down the unlock button and pressed the lock button three times. But I never got the warning light to flash once. Never, and I tried a whole bunch of times.

So, does this mean both fobs are knackered? Unlikely...

    Anyone got any ideas?

Ok, so its been a little while since a post has been on here but, the information contained within the thread might be helpful, as Im looking along the lines of getting a new fob for a car for someone.

The car is a Nissan March, it has a key fob with the key embedded in the fob, key wasn't required for use until recently, when key in red or green showed on the display, got a replacement battery and all seems well.
You dont actually need the key once the fob is present, the key is like a backup to open the door and turn the ignition as normally you could just turn part of the ignition barrel.

Their spare key has no fob, just a key, so that and it being a grey import, suggests there is no immobiliser, although someone tried to take the car once but couldn't? when the spare key is in use it may or may not show the red or green key light on the dash, I'll have to confirm the key symbol colours that appear on the dash, I think it seemed only to be a problem once the battery started going low in the fob until it must have gone flat and the car could only be locked or started with the actual metal key inside the fob.

The fob itself is standard enough sized but I couldnt see one online, not an exact copy or even close, would it be possible to use a generic fob to start the ignition as I have a spare fob for another older car alarm, could this be programmed or is it a different kettle of fish being an alarm fob, this fob which belonged to another car was only for the alarm/central locking and the immobiliser component was contained within the key which was seperate.
Or do I need to which I suspect is the likely route go and get a specific Nissan or specific generic fob capable of interacting with the ignition.

If so? where? and any ideas how much? Its not urgent, its just for the convenience.

So, any ideas on getting a replacement fob, (other than through a main dealers).
