Any seroquel users here!

Hey I'm on 300mg of seroquel since mid august for anxiety and depression. It has helped me so much. However I have gotten awful acne since I started it. I was also on lithium but that caused severe acne so was taken off it and the seroquel dose increased.

My acne is really bothering me though and I don't know what to do. My gp gave me a cream and antibiotic a few days ago to try clear it up. Bad enough trying to keep depression away without having awful acne too.

So my question is if any seroquel users here have had acne they think is because of it and any tips to get rid of the acne? I know the obvious solution might be to come off the seroquel but I don't see my psychiatrist taking me off it this early. Not looking for medication advice more skincare

Hi. I take lithium and seroquel but haven't ever suffered from acne. I did get very dry skin after starting the lithium though. It cleared up after a while and my psych gave my some tips to deal with it. The lithium doesn't really cause me any problems, apart from being thirsty and peeing a lot! The seroquel just kinda does what it's supposed to do I.e. Make me drowsy. I'm not in on a therapeutic dose anymore more (100mg down from 800) as it had been dampening my mood quite a lot.

With regard to the acne, I would suggest following a meticulous skin care regime and take the medications your doctor has prescribed for it. If you're really unhappy on it though your psych should listen and consider taking you off. There are other atypical anti psychotics out there that have different side effect profiles (eg zypreza, rispedal etc).

I would recommend Liz earles hot cloth cleanse and polish. It leaves my skin feeling very clean and soft and keeps the blackheads at bay. Also, I believe dermalogica do excellent products for acne prone skin.

Thanks for reply and suggestions I was on zyprexa but it didn't help my mood in the same way seroquel has but skin was clear on zyprexa :( I must look into that Liz Earle cloth and I've heard great things about deems logics it's quite expensive though hanks again I will speak to the psych next appointment. 6th of next month.
