    Hi folks,
just toying with the idea of a tractor mounted pto wood chipper/mulcher/shredder or what ever you want to call them.

Every year we have trees and branches falling and the usual practice here is to pile them and return later and burn them. cattle always crowd around the pile and dame the ground etc. We have lots of very mature trees in the fences and ditchs etc.

During the storm easter ealier this year we had 3 large beach trees fall together but that would be unusual for that many to fall at once. Its ok but very time consuming to burn the light branches. Would prefer to shred them as we are doing the clean up. It would be nice to have it done all in one wip.

what sort of money would you be talking to get your hands on one.
Hiring is a PITA as your trying to get it returned etc.

The DB996 here would be an ideal canidate for mounted

Normal practice here would be to throw them back onto the ditch, blocking up the hole left by the fallen tree. Land is fairly sheltered so not much risk of them blowing off.

Ya, I know what you mean, there can be work more in tidying those light branches than there is in cutting the tree. We usually just pile them in a bit of waste ground end leave to rot. You could just hire one for the day.

about €5250 + VAT and a tank of diesel

I'd like one too, but it's just one of those things that can't be justified for the sake of a pile of branches. I don't think any of the smaller engine driven ones are much good
