    I have a small issue.

I have an AV receiver (Sony STR-DA7100ES) which I can't get direct line of sight to. So, my IR remote won't work. I need to get some form of IR extender/repeater to control the box.

The AV receiver has an IR remote/IR repeater port on the back. Nothing in the manual specifies what exact device will work in it.

Any idea where I could get a device that can relay my IR remote signal? Any advice would be great.

I have a pair of Marmitek PowerMid XL infrared extenders and they work 100% independent of any port you mention on the back of your amp...

Keene usually have a good range of this sort of stuff

You'll need a kit of some kind - which will include an IR receiver, an amplifier and some IR emitters

    Or there are wireless kits

I have one of these guys: http://www.nextgen.us/NextGen_Remote_Extender_Plus_p/remoteextenderplus.htm

works flawlessly and you don't need to have any hardware in the room where the TV is.

all you do is put the base station facing the device(s) you want to control and pop the special AAA (with a AA adapter) RF 'battery' in your remote in place of one of the existing batteries and any time you press a button on the remote, this battery picks up the tiny RF signal that is given off by the button press and amplifies it and sends it to the base station which converts it back to IR to send to your device.

at least, that's how they say it works, but i'm convinced it's some kind of black magic. :pac:

you can even get multiple batteries for more than one device/remote if you need to.
