Alvarado - Provodnikov

I think Provodnikov's odds on getting the stoppage have shortened slightly since the weigh-in. If Alvarado did have trouble making the weight it could be very significant in a fight like this one.

Yes ..... What a great fight and the wait is killing me !

Been looking forward to this one now for a while

Alvarado cant weigh in under a towel ?

Anyway this is a fight of attrition and I expect a late finish from Prodokinov

Depends if Provodnikov is as heavy handed as he looked against Bradley or not. Maybe he is, or maybe he just got Bradley at the right time. We'll know soon enough. Mike is a bit chinny and if Ruslan can really punch he'll have him in trouble at some point.

Was going with Alvarado but after the weight in i'm going for Provodnikov, to be weight drained in this type of fight is very crucial think Alvarado will get stopped now TBH going to be some fight anyway

There's so much potential for great fights after last night.

Provodnikov vs Pac/JMM/Matthyse/Rios/Khan/Garcia/Peterson all have great potential

Very good scrap. Prov is a tank. Hell of a chin. He took some wicked shots. Beautiful compact style. I wish at times he would unload even more. Sometimes he struggles to rattle off the combos, but when he does he does real damage. Excellent body puncher, and excellent feet and positioning. His wrestling background is helping his shape in the ring. Like gene said, we have some real tasty matches from 140-147. Real tasty. Let's see them. My pick of the bunch is Prov-Garcia.

I think Garcia would do to Provodnikov what he did to Matthyse, still would love to see it but I'd favour Garcia.

Not sure. Prov is tighter and more compact with better head movement and faster feet. He also whacks hard enough to hurt Garcia, and he seems to have a very solid engine and chin. Cracking fight where I would probably lean with Prov. Though it needs to happen soon because that's two in a row for Prov where he took a lot of punishment. That has to have an effect.

Damn seriously how many unreal fights can be made at 140 and 147 talk about stacked with quality, would love to see Provodnikov vs Broner or what about Matthysse fighting Prov what a fight that would be

Unfortunately that list looks more like this:
    Provodnikov vs Pac/JMM/Matthyse/Rios/Khan/Garcia/Peterson/Bradley :(

Yeah the whole golden boy vs top rank cold war is really ruining the sport

Yeah it's really frustrating. I can understand a promoter not wanting their fighter to be on a network that is a rival to their employers but from a fans perspective it can deprive you of the sort of matchups you deserve.
More than just Top Rank v Golden Boy the problem is also HBO and Showtime. If it was just one network showing boxing promoters would likely be under more pressure to cooperate, but then of course there's the potential for monopolies, which can bring it's own problems.
On the plus side, the rivalry between the two sides seems to be driving them to put together better cards. Or at least on Golden Boy's side of the fence anyway.

Provodnikov is promoted by Artie Pelullo, so I thought there might be a slim chance that he would have some sort of independence in terms of match-making, but he has nailed his colours to the HBO mast.
Maybe he can just fight Tim Bradley for the next 6 years?

That was a great fight, very enjoyable. Provodnikov has a very entertaining style, I know I'll be watching his future fights.
I reckon if Provodnikov had a fight with Katsidis when he was at himself, now that would be something to watch!!

Matthysse vs Provodnikov would be something else. End of days type stuff. Delighted for Ruslan, great story in itself for a guy to do what he has done. Feel sorry for Mike too though. He just couldn't hurt Provodnikov and make him stay away.

I thought Provodnikov's emotion in the ring after the fight was brilliant as well. It was emotional just to watch it. A guy going through a war like that and then screaming 'mama' after it. Only in boxing.
