Suggestions for a first car

Hi. I'm hoping to pass my test early January and plan to get my first car then. My budget for the car is approx 2k. Could save up a bit longer to go very slightly more.

I know I won't get anything great for that. I plan to do about 30 miles a day on average. Good fuel economy and low running costs are my priority.

I'm thinking the fiesta fifth generation is probably the most likely. Although I read the Fourth generation has better reliability. But it doesn't look as good to my eyes. I've been thinking about a 2000 region polo too but they are supposed to be very boring to drive from what I've read.

I like the look of the Suzuki Swift second generation and read it's supposed to be fun to drive.

    Has anyone other suggestions?

    Thanks.

nissan micra, renault clio , fiat punto , opel corsa, peogeot 206 ... etc. for first car ... me thinks shouldnt be fun to drive, you should learn to drive, and as robust car will be , then will be easier drive next cars. ... robust I mean with minimal comfort.

here is a list of cars on donedeal... max 2.5 k euro, engine size max 1.2 petrol

Fiat panda is another good one. They feel a lot bigger than they are, and are perfect to learn in.

I have an 04 fiesta that has never given an ounce of trouble
    Ditto hubby's 04 focus
You'd be able to pick one up for around the 2k mark cheap to tax and insure and won't rob you on petrol

Solid choice. You should be able to pick up a clean one for a good bit less than 2,000.
