Not to burst your bubble but RDR was developed by rockstar north and San Diego. This guy is in New England.

Could be either Bully or Red Dead, one of those would be the stuff of legend.
My heart belongs to the latter, Red Dead 3 or whatever it's called could be magnificent, especially if they scale it up with regular trains and the multiple characters in the mode of GTA5, perhaps the closest cinematic equivalent might be Once upon a time, with multiple viewpoints.

    Red Dead.....Revolution? (why not?)

    From Wikipedia

The brand is mostly known for Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne, L.A. Noire, The Warriors, Bully, Manhunt, Midnight Club, State of Emergency, and Red Dead

    it's anyone's guess really

Rockstar own the LA Noire IP. They had said they plan to do something with the franchise. It had been done by Team Bondi, so if they do something with it, it would be the first time it'd be in one of their in house studios.

Would Bully or Red Dead be considered a 'famous IP'?

I'd like to think something bit bigger if their gonna use that terminology.

Red Dead is definitely a famous ip although I feel that Bully is debatable for the term of famous. It's an excellent game but was it that popular?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,499 ✭✭✭Sabre0001

Famous and popular don't have to go hand-in-hand. Bully generated plenty of controversy and courted headlines, which certainly helped it become famous. Wasn't hugely popular, but was an excellent game as you say.

Also, Rockstar's Dan Houser said that he'd like to make a sequel in September...so fingers crossed.

    🤪

Red Dead sold about 13 million copies. I'd say it counts.

Um, what does 'IP' stand for? :o

Intellectual Property. It's basically a brand or franchise.

Please let it be a new Red Dead. Please, please, please.

Intellectual property. For example, GTA as a brand is an IP. So is Metal Gear, Call of Duty, Halo, etc.

Didn't they mention Bully a few times over the last few months. They may have re-covered the IPs copyrights and all that. Good chance it'll be a new Bully, which I'd personally love to see!

After the mess of RDR's code i dont think SD will be touching RDR again

Would LOVE a RDR follow up, my favourite game on the PS3 I think, preferably not with Jack Marston but would take it if that was all they offered!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,710 ✭✭✭✭Skerries

it'll be Bully 2 as they have registered that name the other day

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,997 ✭✭✭Grimebox

I read that as, they are working on a new IP which will be famous once it is released. Bit cocky of them

    Please be RDR 2...

A Bully game with a city to explore, given the scale is different with the vehicle selection being made up of skateboards and bikes, multiple schools, maybe colleges, hospitals, theatres, cop shops, could be a dense explorable city.
Like the jump from School Daze to Back 2 School on the Speccy.

Any new story in the wild west would be best a new one, with new characters, just like Red Dead Revolver vs Red Dead Redemption.
Besides, I think the Marstons deserve a rest, don't you?

I saw a 'western' movie based in Argentina once. Some awesome scenes there. It could be a change of pace.

Wouldn't that just turn it into GTA without the cars? And if it's a whole city then there will be cars, so why couldn't you drive them? A whole sprawling college campus would be cool. Bet its Red Dead though.

Well, I'm not really thinking of a large metropolis like Liberty City, they could generate a more parochial setting, low rise, suburbs, think of small town America.
Plenty of scope for mini games, races, recreating Goonies treasure hunts, ET style bmx rides and chases.
    Could be a real blast!

Would love another State of Emergency or The Warriors, both excellent games. But, it will be Bully 2 (or Canis Canem Edit 2) I suspect.

what was the reason for the name change?

Bully sequel with Jimmy going to university could be interesting. Scope for a bigger "school" and small town close by - think Hogwarts and Hogsmeade :p

You said RDR 2, and both games have the same initials; revolver and redemption.

Could be like BOGT or TLAD but for the next gen only?

But I guess it's all pure speculation.

X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter....you heard it hear first :P

No doubt it will be a really cool original Title where a player has to perform a number of Repeated missions in a large City/Town area, Possibly in a 3rd Person perspective. With various things that the user can steal such as cars and bikes and maybe even Horses !! :pac:

what was the reason for the name change?

If you mean "Bully" to "Canis Canem Edit" it's because at the time of the build up to release the Daily Mail was on one of it's periodic anti-bullying Jihads so when the makers of a world-famous murder simulator talked about releasing a game called Bully they went bananas. The simple solution was to change the name of the game to the motto of the school (Dog eat dog in latin, I think) which did not contain any red-flag words, rendering it entirely invisible to journalists.

It came out on the Wii as Bully. That same week, the number of wedgies and nipple cripples reported to A&E in London south-west alone went up 400% so in fairness the Daily Mail had a point.

I was genuinely thinking it would be cool if they did a Star Wars game. They don't say who owns the 'famous IP', so it could be anything... Rockstarwars
