Was walking from Eglinton Street into Eyre Square and heard a pretty loud noise, sounded like a gunshot. 20 Minutes later when I got on the bus it went down through there and on Williamsgate street (between Eglinton and Eyre Square) there was an ambulance.

I heard the same noise before I noticed the ambulance.

Friend reckons it was some eejit who let off a firework or something.. anybody know the story?

I heard it too, seemed a bit dull to be a firework. Sounded more like something falling. They are doing building work at the AIB so might have been that.
